After graduating in 1995, principal Geary Mansfield gained valuable experience in various architectural offices, including a progressive Florida firm in America, Kenneth Miller Architects PA, where his passion for contemporary design and detailing was fueled. Our studio has produced a number of projects, including a single-family residential home showcased on Top Billing, a pre-eminent South African lifestyle magazine and TV show. At Dwell Designs we believe that innovative thought and meticulous design, together with the appropriate use of modern technologies, produce timeless and responsible architecture. At Dwell we are striving to develop the company beyond our design, construction and project management philosophy. We are looking at significant opportunities in the Renewable Energy sector where we can develop our skills further and make significant contributions to our community. We believe that our local skills, professionalism and understanding of the area provide an excellent leverage point from where we can partner with companies with renewable energy concepts, design and technology. Our approach will constantly be client and site specific. Once the client’s needs are evaluated, careful attention is paid to solar orientation, prevailing winds, topography and the choice of building systems and materials. Dwell Designs also advocates sustainability of buildings and thus attempts to incorporate this vision into all projects the company gets involved with. Dwell Designs Architectural Design Studio was established in Knysna, on South Africa’s popular Garden Route in 2004 and has since gained expertise in contemporary single-family homes, as well as multiple residential projects. Working closely and systematically with our clients, we thoroughly explore all sectors of the building design, either in 2D or 3D, explore challenges at all levels and focus on innovation in response to changing conditions. The house overlooks an indigenous forest with the Indian Ocean in the distance. We incorporated four self-contained suites, a basement wine cellar and a separate structure that could be utilized as a gym, study or office.
